- What did you create, and why? I created a Google Calendar to share information with parents about field trips and upcoming events.
- What went well for you? The tutorial video was easy to follow and straight-forward. Adding information to the Calendar and adding it to my class website went smoothly.
- What was challenging? Everything went fairly smoothly. I think my biggest challenge, since I now have multiple calendars, will be remembering to select the correct calendar when entering a new event.
- What did you enjoy? In the past, I've felt like I had to add events such as field trips to multiple calendars (for me, for parents, etc.) and I like the fact that I can add it once where I can see it but it will automatically update the website calendar for parents as well.
- What ideas do you have for using this tool with your students, grade level, staff or to communicate with families? I'd consider using the calendar for some lesson planning since it will help keep all my information in once place. I could also use it to coordinate with grade-level teachers for planning and collaboration.

Challenge: Google Slides
I created a presentation to use at the Institute this summer. Myself and a colleague are teaching a session on academic vocabulary, and this was the focus of my student growth goal last school year. I was pleased with the way it turned out, and how easy it was to incorporate video clips of my growth evidence into the presentation.
Challenge: Website
I worked on my class webpage for this challenge. I had a tricky time getting it published (or made view able) from our school's website. My AP finally was able to help me, so families will be able to access it in the fall. I hope that using this site will allow me to communicate with families in a more efficient way. I am also excited to hear from my students via the Discussions page.

What did you create and why?
Using Google Slides, I created a presentation on Digital Citizenship. My students will be receiving Chromebooks so it's important that they become digital citizens. They have to act safely, responsibly and respectfully. This is an introductory lesson in which they create Super Digital Citizens.

What went well for you?
I found Google Slides easy to use. It added a level of engagement to the presentation. I added links and a video which was easy to do.
What was challenging?
Having never used Google Slides, it was a bit intimidating. The directions were easy to follow. Figuring out how to share it was challenging and I hope I did that right.

I enjoyed finding a new way to present lessons. I think I will be using this a lot.

What went well for you?

It was interesting to watch the video of the lesson and then be provided the lesson plan with the Essential Question and Common Core Standards already done for me. The lesson was engaging and a good way to present the concept of digital citizenship.

I created a place value quiz for my math class. https://kahoot.it/#/join We will be reviewing place value and I thought this would be a fun way to assess student knowledge of place value.
What went well for you?
Kahoot is extremely easy to use. It is well laid out and lets you know when you have made a mistake such as forgetting to put in a correct answer. There are a lot of options in how many questions and how many answers.The directions were easy to follow.
What was challenging?
Kahoot is very straight forward. It leads you step by step, no problems. Only problem is deciding what I wanted to do first. I can see using this frequently.

Elementary Online Databases
What did you create and why?
I am planning a unit on friendship so I started at www.teachingbooks.com. My read aloud is Flora &
Ulysses. This site provided activities, discussion and comprehension questions. I also found a
reader's theater script to use after reading the book. This site also provides links to the author's
website. I also explored the CultureGrams website www.culturegrams.com. We will be studying states. This site includes great information, interesting tidbits and recipes for each state.
What went well for you?
I found it easy to access information on both sites. The Teaching Books website provided lots of links and information for every book. I found it helpful that they broke down the information into categories. Information on CultureGrams is readily accessible. Its a colorful site which I found interesting to read.
What was challenging?
